Sangiovese is the famed grape of Tuscany and is responsible for some of the most revered and celebrated red wine in Italy. Sangiovese's ability to express terroir and age gracefully has earned it a revered status among wine enthusiasts worldwide, cementing its place as one of Italy's most cherished grape varieties. Here in the high altitude, cool climate region of Orange, we create a style that is both aromatic and delicate.

The 2023 Rowlee Sangiovese was made using whole berry fermentation. The wine spent two and half weeks in open fermenters with hand plunging daily to increase colour and tannin texture. After pressing the wine was transferred to older barrels to allow malolactic fermentation to occur, once completed the wine was matured in oak for eleven months prior to bottling.

Crimson purple with brighter red edges. Light to medium bodied, red cherries and cranberry aromas with a pleasing rose petal and aniseed character. On the palate the wine is lively with lovely tannins and a crunchy and long finish. The acidity and tannins in this wine match superbly with tomato-based sauces, pasta, and grilled meats. Enjoy now or cellar over the next three to four years.
